What is the Elayna Community Discussion Board?   The Discussion Board is a key part of our learning community...our learning from and through each other.   It's a friendly place where registered members can post messages and reply to messages from other members, and where all registered members can view the flow of discussion and learn from each other.   (Other names for this type of application are: Forum, Discussion Board, Discussion Group and Bulletin Board.).   We intend the Discussion Board to be as user friendly as possible.

How Do I Become A Member?   The Discussion Board is open to registered members only.   You can easily apply for membership by clicking on Register.   Complete the form and click Submit.  You will receive an email shortly regarding your approval.  You will receive an email to which you will need to respond in order to confirm your email address.   That's it!

What Can I Write About?   Please post to the Discussion Board with the same frame of mind you would have if you were sitting in a coffee shop or cafe with friends and talking freely.   Please post on any topics you find of interest in the context of Indigos and Crystals, their mission and our understanding of them and it.   You can ask questions and answer questions that others have asked, share information, resources and insights, get information and give information.   Most topics of interest to you will be of interest to other members.   When in doubt, please post.   Most topics will be okay because the mission of Indigos and Crystals is very broad.

Who Can Read Messages on the Elayna Community Discussion Board?   Only registered members whose email addresses have been confirmed can read and post to the Discussion Board.

Is There a Password?   Yes.   To access the Discussion Board you will need to use the password you selected when you registered.

Who are the Members of the Discussion Board?   You will find a list of members by clicking on the Members List link located toward the bottom of the main page of the Discussion Board (after you log in).   If you want to find a specific member, then click Member Search.   Fill in the search criteria and then click on the Search button at the bottom of the screen.

Is There a Moderator Role?   Elayna is the Moderator of the Discussion Board.  Her role is to monitor the quality of postings.   She will do as little editing as possible (you're responsible for your own spell checking by using the link at the bottom of each message you are composing.)  Elayna's job is to prevent trolling, abuse of the system, and ultimately ensure that posts are not clearly antagonizing others or using language that would not be appropriate for the members, who may include not only adults, but also children and teenagers.   The Moderator also has administrative privileges over other members of the Discussion Board.   She takes her role and your privacy very seriously.   Please feel free to write to her with your comments, questions, suggestions, etc.

What is a Post? - A Post is a single message that you or someone else writes to the Discussion Board under a Thread (topic).   In other words, it's an email to the Discussion Board.

Creating a New Post:   Click on the Thread (topic) you wish to post under.   Click on the Reply link at the top of the Discussion Board screen.   (Or click on New Topic at the top or bottom of the screen to create a new Thread.)   Type your message, click Spell Check if you like, and then click the Post Message button.   (You can edit Posts after you post them.)

What is a Forum? A Forum is a Main Category of discussion.     We don't have any Forums at this time, but have grouped all Posts under one Forum by default.   We think it is easier to post when we don't have to figure out which Forum our Post fits in.   Just go ahead and post your message!   (We can search for posts by Thread (topic) and by Member.)

Minimal Number of Forums:   Our intention is to have as few Forums (main categories of discussion) as possible because people tend to address more than one topic ( Forum / Thread ) in their posts, and we want to make it easy to post to the Discussion Board.   You can easily use the Search feature of the Board to find particular Threads (topics) by searching on keywords or a person's username.  This will be easier than trying to segregate our messages to address only one Forum/Thread, or to have to put them into different Forums/Threads.

What is a Thread? - A Thread is a topic.   It's like the Subject line in an email.   It's the topic of a Post.   If you are replying to a Post, you can just click Reply at the bottom of the post, and this will post your message in the same Thread (topic) as the one to which you are replying. Or you can easily create a new Thread
back to top

How to Create a New Thread (Topic within a Forum):   You can create a new Thread (topic) by clicking on either of the New Topic links located at the top and bottom of the screen.

How to subscribe to a Thread:   If you have particular interest in a certain Thread, you can elect to receive an email to your confirmed email address when someone posts to that Thread.   To do this, select the Thread you want to subscribe to.   Then click the Thread Tools link at the top left of the screen.   Select the Subscribe to this Thread option.   Your email address will be the one in your profile.

How to UNsubscribe from a Thread:   Select the Thread you want to unsubscribe from.   Click the Thread Tools link at the top left of the screen.   Select the Unsubscribe from this Thread option.

Searching for a Thread (Topic):   The Discussion Board has a wonderful search engine.   To search for posts containing information on a particular subject, click on the Search link at the top of a Forum or Thread.   For example, if you want to find out what people have written about Crystals in the Discussion Board , click on Search on the top right immediately above the messages, and enter the keyword, Crystals and/or Crystal.   Then select from the drop-down menu next to the keyword/s to select whether to search only for Threads (topic headings) with those keywords in them, or to search within Entire Messages for those keywords.   (Since people tend to write about multiple topics in their messages, it's probably best to select Entire Messages from the drop-down menu.)   Note:   Later, when we have more than one Forum, you will need to first select the Forum in which you want to perform your search, as the search engine will only search one Forum at a time.

Printing a Thread:   To print a Thread, click on the Thread you want to print.   Then click on the Thread Tools link.   Then select Show Printable Version option.   Click the Print option in your browser window located under the File menu.

Deleting a Thread you have created:   Please do NOT delete any Threads (topics) you have created because that will delete ALL the Posts by everyone in that Thread.   Instead, please follow instructions for deleting a Post.

Searching for a Member's Posts:   You can search for posts written by a particular member by clicking on the Search link at the top right of the screen.   Enter the username of the member in the Search by Username section.   (There is a link to the Member List there too, in case you don't know the username of the person whose posts you want to see.)

Editing a Post you have created:   You can edit a post by locating the Post and then clicking on the Edit link to the left of the post.   Edit it, and then click on Post Message to re-post the edited message where it was posted originally.   (You can also choose to Preview Post or to Spell Check your message before re-posting the edited Post.)     Note:   You can only edit posts that you have created.   (The Moderator, Elayna, can edit all posts, and will do as little editing as possible.)

Deleting a Post you have created:   You can delete a Post you have created by following these steps.   However, please read this entire paragraph before doing this.   (1) To Delete the First Post in a Thread (topic):   Deleting the first Post in a Thread (topic) will delete ALL the Posts in that Thread.   So if yours is the first Post (you created the Thread), then please only Edit that Post down to these few words:   Post Deleted by Writer.   Then re-post it so that the Post is not actually deleted; but just the content of the message is removed.  (2) To Delete a Post that is Not the First Post in a Thread (topic):   Click on the Thread and then the Post you wish to delete.   Click the Delete link to the left of the Post.   Since this is not the first Post in a Thread, you will only delete your Post and all the other Posts in that Thread will remain.   Please contact the Moderator if you have any problems or questions with this.

How to Change your Email Address, Signature, Picture/Avatar and other information (Edit your Profile):   You can manage your preferences by clicking on the Control Panel link on the top right of the screen after you have logged in.   Make the changes, and then click Submit. (If you have changed your email address, you will receive a request for confirmation in your email account, and you will need to reply to that to confirm your new email address.)

How to Change your Username:   The software won't allow you to change your username, as this would delete all your messages.   You could re-register, though, with a new username by clicking Elayna Community Discussion Group Register.

Can Members Send Me Direct Emails?   This feature is allowed IF you have enabled it in your Profile. Your email address will not be publicly revealed unless you chose that option when you registered or in your Profile. If you experience any problems with this feature, please let the Moderator know.

Deleting your Elayna Community Discussion Board Membership:   You can delete your account by clicking on Control Panel at the top right of the Discussion Board screen (after you have logged in).   Click the View your Profile link, and then click the Delete link.
